Crazy as all get out! As long as they think they are owning the dems or libs or snowflakes or whatever the other party is being called these days nothing else matters. Period. End of discussion. His supporters cannot look out far enough to realize t…
While it was never even a fleeting consideration (I'm a wild outdoors guy) I can now confirm that I won't be moving there anytime soon. Couldn't come close to competing. I do enjoy visiting however.
If I had Warren's expertise, portfolio and a position that was 50% of my portfolio I would do the same. I am so, so far away from that scenario I can only dream.
@sma3 - I do not use YOC. I believe it to be a false metric. It's not the yield on the current valuation. However if you'd like to know what it is, it's 9.6% to go along with 59% CG's.
Edit to add: I should probably mention that the stocks I mentio…
@bee - That's a fair question and one that I honestly can't answer with any degree of certainty. I can relate how it pertains to me but that's about it.
1) Most of my DG portfolio holdings were bought at depressed valuations (on sale if you wish). …
In your account description titles above do the terms 'rollover' and 'conversion' depict some special conditions pertaining to the accounts or are they just a reminder as to where or how the accounts were funded? I ask because way back in the early …
@YBB - who said "Think of Barron's article mentions of funds and/or stock as "for instance", but not comprehensive or the best or leading."
Good point! As @hank noted it's a very common occurrence in Barron's articles. Maybe I need to pay more for …
@sma3 - I can't argue that about SCHD at all. All I was trying to say originally is that it wasn't paying enough to suit my goals for that type of investment.
When I set out on this path (i.e. dividend growth investor) I was looking for stocks tha…
@Old-Joe - thanks. It kinda does but I mitigate it by using only the bluest of the blue chips or other high quality holdings that are tops in class. IOW I try not to include anything gimmicky or something that I need to be on like a hawk. So current…
None of those, VIG,SCHD,or PRDGX appeal to me on a dividend payment basis (too low) which prompted me to build my own dividend fund. I understand that it is not everyone's cup of tea.
"We had previously owned OAKMX for several years. Very good fund - not sure why we ever parted with it."
Possibly it had something to do with the WaMu debacle.
@MikwW - from MT Newswire
05:19 PM EDT, 05/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) late Thursday reported a surprise increase in fiscal second-quarter earnings despite a slowdown in iPhone sales while the technology giant announced additional stoc…
It's interesting to me also. Fidelity has a warning sometimes associated with buying certain securities that you have to acknowledge you read but never an outright ban. …
One credible source I follow has postulated that large institutional holders (pension funds, 401K funds, etc.) are rotating out of large cap growth tech and moving into value and bond funds for whatever that's worth to anyone. I can't read this arti…
@Anna - you have the slickest and smoothest form of sarcasm. Love it.
@AndyJ - Nailed it!
But I can't escape the nasty feeling that SCOTUS is going to find a way to let that orange snake slither away unscathed just as they absolve themselves of ev…
I don't feel one lick of sympathy for the large shareholders on the assumption that they know what they are gambling with. As for the the little shareholders I seriously doubt they knew or know what they are in for. Do you believe any of them even r…
@Crash - for example let's say that Stock X has a value of $10 and holds that value up to the ex-date. It also pays a dividend of $0.50. (I'm ignoring all the scenarios of capital gains/losses from selling etc., etc. in this example.)
On the ex-dat…
@Crash - you'll have to explain to me the logic of holding on until you collect the divie. If you sell before it's paid you will have in essence collected the divie. Also, a lot of dividend paying equities seem to ramp up in the days prior to the ex…
I can confirm what @hank mentioned above. I use the function to compare MF's to ETF's as he does. To be honest I don't use many MF's at all any more but I've held on to a couple of long term winners.
