How False Impressions Are Pulling Americans Apart

FYI: This is the third report published as part of More in Common's Hidden Tribes Project, whose focus is to better understand the forces that drive political polarization and tribalism in the United States today, and to galvanize efforts to address them.

  • Good reading. We have so much to thank Facebook and other social media to magnify the cultural and political differences. The russians have learned well how to exploit these differences in order to create division and discourse of others so that it would benefit them.

@Sven- True, but no need to look so far afield. Our own glorious leader is a master of the black art.
  • "...While this research reveals disturbing trends, the overall message is positive: Americans often have more in common than they believe. Those with the greatest levels of hostility towards their political opponents typically understand them the least. This fundamental insight could be used as a basis for a more productive dialogue between opposing camps and moving forward on critical threats and challenges confronting the United States as we enter the 2020s."
No misunderstanding here: The Majority Leader in the Senate acts --- or refuses to act--- in such a way as to make it clear that partisan advantage is more important to him that addressing issues, compromising, legislating, and basically serving even his own constituency. He may be doing what a great number in KY want him to do, but he is serving no one. And the entire country is the loser.

Our own glorious leader has been stuck with the problems of globalism

What Globalism Did Was To Transfer The US Economy To China

this is my perception or fact - its been a long time problem!
  • "Our own glorious leader has been stuck with the problems of globalism"

True enough. And his remedy for that is to foster racial and ethnic hatred every chance he gets here in America. And he makes certain that he gets lots of chances.
  • Thank God for Trump! Was dealt the worst hand possible by the Manchurian candidate Obama, and has been fought every step of the way by the corrupt deep state political mob and Lame-stream media, who do everything in their power to twist & corrupt the minds of all Americans into believing Trump is a polarizing, racist, neo-Nazi, when in fact it's the braindead lemming liberals that are the fascists, witness ANTIFA.

  • For 30 months, the Dem shills in the MSM engaged in propaganda about "Russian Collusion" with the Trump Administration. Old Man Mueller found no basis to charge Trump with that. Where are the spate of apologies for the defamation of Trump which he endured? Scurrilous political lies -- spouted by the "free press" -- which is in the pocket of the Dems. The "free press" is in fact a partisan press. Not independent, not professional.

Now that the "Russian Collusion" lie has ended, the TDS's have to resort to the tried-but-untrue "the Repub is a Racist" canard. Most of the posters on these boards are old enough to remember this same race-baiting propaganda was hurled at President Reagan, and Bush 41 to varying degrees. I mean naturally Trump is a racist.. he's not a Democrat. Meanwhile Joe Biden "colluded" with Dem segregationists early in his career. So if Joe Biden is the nominee, be very careful about hurling the "racist" label.

@Edmond there was insufficient evidence to charge. An important distinction from no basis.

You'll note Biden has been criticized for his previous positions with regards to race. Reagan has been recorded being a racist. Can't say much about Bush himself, but his campaign notably intentionally used racist tropes.

You make lots of noise about falsehood or bias, but seem substanceless.
  • "Insufficient basis to charge". So innocent until proven guilty... or do you make an exception for people with "R" behind their names, because your candidate lost.
  • We are having a boston tea party again - took 200+ years realize we have a problem!

Actually, doesn't take much "power" at all. All they need do is quote Trump and his infantile racist tweets, word-for-word. And they do.
