Google.com/finance although you may need gmail acct

I do research on my funds etf as and stocks using schwab research [we have brokerages acct w Schwab] although I as very biased toward and usually buy indexes

Lots funds mentioned here are very good that are recommended by mfo readers, but sometimes fees are too high (more than 1%annual) or they have preload 5s% (or after loads) and don't do well 10 yrs compared simple indexings
  • @Ron- You might try this link to Schwab's Mutual Fund info page.

Ignore all of the "Log In" and "Schwab Client" advertising stuff and wait until the page settles down with the "Search for Stocks, ETFs or Mutual Funds" box on the right-hand side.

Another option: If the symbol for a fund that you're interested in is shown (and underlined) in an existing MFO post, then placing your cursor on that fund will open a box where you can select one of many sources for additional information.

And also: Don't overlook the overwhelming wealth of info available at the MFO Premium site.

The quick search is free https://www.member.mfopremium.com/quicksearch/ and gives you a good readout on risk, and a thumbnail sketch on return, over select time periods. You can enter up to five tickers.

I cancelled my M* premium subscription and bought a subscription here for half the price.

  • There's a difference between finding funds and comparing funds. I still like the M* legacy pages for making comparisons. I never found M*'s free fund screener tool very helpful, though its Premium (subscription required) screener is another matter.

Go to a fund's M* legacy performance page (or alter the URL's ticker for the fund you want to start with). Then use the "compare" tab to add funds for comparison.

Fidelity has a good comparison page as well, but it is limited to the funds you can buy through Fidelity (e.g. you can use it to compare funds to POGRX, but not to VPMCX).

(Data from M*, except for Fidelity fund data that comes directly from the source.)

  • If you’re a Fidelity customer, they have an excellent tool for comparing funds.

You do not need to be a Fido customer to use it.
  • Great ideas. Thank you. Only thing I see you can't compare an ETF with a Mutual Fund.

TD lets you do that here: https://research.tdameritrade.com/grid/public/mutualfunds/compare/compare.asp
