I believe that Scott Burns (Asset Builder) recently dropped commodities from their model portfolios. Not sure why, but suspect they were not seeing positive upsides.
I'm in agreement with all the points Rono has made. It also disturbs me greatly that our Gov't is doing its best to create the most divisive environment I can recall in my lifetime and corporate america is not helping much either. What a shame that…
Hey Catch, I was wondering this same thing. I for one did not expect the market reaction we had yesterday, but suspect there will be some profit taking or other worries to knock it back down to earth. While I don't feel the upcoming debt ceiling c…
I don't want all these bond downers to turn into a self fulfilling prophecy, so I would prefer something a little more positive with respect to bonds. Bondage - def: one's attachment to their bond investments.
I sold off some about a month or so ago and lightened up some more today. Seems to me, the fiscal cliff could drive the market down quite a bit more from where we are today. Remember what happened August 2011.
I probably have as many or more than OJ, some due to reasons Catch mentions. Nevertheless, I would like to reduce them down to maybe 10 or less, but I suffer from procastination inertia. Will make another run at it just before I retire next year:)

I'll bite if you change that to a 4.11 or was it a 4.10 axle back then. I can't remember cause I had 4.56 for those hole shots. Take care and I hope everything is good with you up on the pennisula.

Dittoe. "As for the 1%, both possible candidates are clearly looking out for them, despite any statements otherwise", while suspect the 1% knows this, I wish the other 99% would too.
Catch,
Thanks for your post and good to hear about the positive results. I haven't seen the eye doc yet or discussed any of my medical history with him. I am diabetic and while that has not had any negative affects on my eye health to my knowledge,…
Catch,
Hope the new optics are performing flawlessly. I would be interested in your future write up on this experience. An opthamologist that goes to my gym told me he could do a lense replacement that would correct my vision both near and far. I d…

I agree, its almost like having a full time job where your constantly worried about getting riffed.
"On Monday, IMF chief Christine Lagarde warned the global economy could fall into an economic spiral reminiscent of the 1930s unless action was taken on the eurozone crisis."
And I thought we just got done with that 1930s flashback. I guess making …

No premium M* membership here, although I do have access to that tool through my TRP 401K site. Thanks again, you've been extremely helpful.

Catch,
Thanks, thats a useful tool. Now if they only had one of those x-ray tools for seeing what your portfolio composition looks like vs having to input into morningstar:)

Pat, I'm not really sure how to respond to your post. Remember, I asked this question re a young investor just starting out who will be averaging into the market over many years time. That said, I suspect trying to guess/time …

Hey catch, good to hear from you. Yeah, it would have been nice if they included all Fidelity funds, but I suppose they want to have some standardization and needed to draw the line somewhere. I realize there is some redundancy …
Well, it appears that the list of available funds in his 401K doesn't include everything, although it is quite extensive. Some of the funds you guys mention are not available, but here is what I came up with. Please let me know what you think in ter…

I think he's limited to their own funds. Guess they want them eating their own cooking which seems reasonable to me. After all, I look for fund managers to be invested in their own funds.
Wolfgang,
You may want to get a copy of this book. I know Doug from another forum and he has put together a most execellent book for Military folks who are retiring:
