    Howdy @Charles ,

From June, 2012 here at MFO; a discussion about Motif.

    Regards,

  • Just took a look at it. Very interesting. Intriguing. Clever idea.
  • @Charles: For your review, I have linked Google that list several sites that discuss the pros and cons of Motif. Just remember there is no such thing as a free lunch

  • I've thought about it off and on literally since that MFO discussion a couple of years ago. I just never got around to it, to be honest. If I was putting the current portfolio together now I'd probably strongly consider it.
  • One big problem with Motif is that they only use market orders for executions. That may be OK for highly liquid stocks like AAPL or SPY. But for motifs that contain less liquid stocks you can get really poor executions if you have a decent sized portfolio.

At this point, I might consider playing around with a small $10,000 portfolio at Motif (and receive the $100 signup bonus), but I would not consider it for serious money unless they improve their market executions.
  • Good stuff. Thanks everybody for helpful feedback.
