FYI:  For the year to date, the large-cap S&P 500 SPX, -0.01%   is up 5.7%. However, the Russell 2000 RUT, -0.15%   small-cap index, is down 2% over the same period. 
Russell 3000, a much broader index that includes small stocks as well as big and mid-cap stocks, is up 5% year-to-date. However, an average stock on the Russell 3000 RUA, +0.00%   is flat for the year, as investors have been rotating into large-caps since the start of the year
