SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Joe Battipaglia, a chief market strategist at Stifel Nicolaus, died suddenly Thursday. Battipaglia, who was 55, died of an apparent heart attack, according to media reports. Battipaglia was well-known for his optimistic views on stocks, but in recent years became increasingly bearish in his outlook, according to MarketWatch Radio. Battipaglia was also the chief investment officer of Washington Crossing Advisors.
