Stocks are poised for a cautious start Friday, with the weekend’s bank stress tests by regulators in Europe looming large.
Although the region’s major banks are all expected to have proved they are strong enough to weather another financial crisis, there is still substantial potential for disappointment and investors are likely to be risk averse going into Sunday’s announcement

Asia: http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/10/23/morning-moneybeat-asia-the-stocks-yo-yo-spins-higher/tab/print/

There’s not a whole lot of data on tap Friday in Asia, but South Korea is due to release its third-quarter advance GDP estimate. In the second quarter, growth increased 0.6% on the quarter and was up 3.6% on the year. But the nation had a rough third quarter, and investors can expect this to be a rather gloomy-looking number.
