Gas Gains as Coldest Blast Since Last Winter Hits U.S.

edited November 2014 in Off-Topic
"Natural gas futures jumped by the most in nine months as a blast of frigid air across the U.S. stokes demand for the heating fuel."

Yikes - an 8% jump in a single day.

Here in CT where the wisdom of electrical generation falls heavily on natural gas, yet, NU (Northeast Utilities) is in a tight spot.

Wall Street has blessed the stockholders of NU with significant profits while rate payers deal with management decisions that outsourced the services of linemen. Poetically this bad decision illuminated itself during a recent 10 day power outage resulting in number of "I'm sorry" and then the resignation of their head c.e.o.

This along with several recent rate hikes have pushed consumers to hit the streets. Generation cost have increased twice this year along with a near doubling of "standard charges".

To add insult to injury, the state legislators decide to balance the state deficit by adding a surcharge to our electric bill.

Much like healthcare...when it comes to utilities, just bend over and cough.
