ETF Market Vital Signs, Dec. 5; Strong Jobs Number Lifts Stocks, Dollar; Bonds, Gold Get Clubbed

FYI: November’s jobs report was the strongest in over two years as the U.S. economy added 321,000 jobs last month, way more than expected. Strong U.S. jobs data fueled stock gains, but hammered bonds and gold. Investors read the jobs number as confirmation that the Federal Reserve will move to hike rates next year, possibly sooner than expected. In Europe, stocks rallied and the euro fell to multi-year lows against the dollar. There, investors are hoping for the European Central Bank to do more to prop up inflation and drive growth.
