Some Problems Today with some Powershares ETFs

Powershares has announced "temporary suspension" today in shares creation in 11 of their ETFs. Involved areas include currencies, commodities/agriculture, precious metals, and energy/oil.

Apparently, there have been disruptions in their "normal trading mechanism."

How did this come to happen? I'm not sure I understand.
