China, Japan Funds Lead As Foreign Stocks Slip In March

FYI: Nintendo is finally going to bring Super Mario to your smartphone. Why should that matter to investors in mutual funds? It's a small sign of a big shift underway in Japan, says one investing expert.

"After decades, corporate behavior is changing," said Michael Arone, a chief investment strategist at State Street Global Advisors. "More companies are willing to buy back stocks, pay dividends."

Even the Japanese video game maker's March 17 announcement to go mobile signals this change, he added: "That's really boosting investor confidence that Japanese stocks will do well."

Certainly, Japan funds delivered stock market gains last month. They surged 2% while world equity funds as a whole gave up an average 1.2%
