Europe up at the start led by the UK. Asia Mixed.

The FTSE is up over 2% at the open. The markets like the conservative win in the elections.

  • Yay to having some investments denominated in pounds. No idea what this means politically, but hey, the pound being up a percent or two helps.
  • Politically I think the markets liked the results because of no change. The polls before the vote were way off as well. The UK is also looking at withdrawing from the EU which would be a blow to that union.

The pound sterling had a good day indeed.

Asia was mixed at the close today. The Shanghai and Schenzhen had big days however. Schenzhen was up over 4%. Shanghai up over 2% and Hong Kong up more than 1%.
