Not getting my hopes up in terms of something being "The Next Berkshire" (see SHLD, JOE), but good article from the upcoming issue of Forbes on an interesting company that isn't much talked about. It is not a REIT, but there has been a lot of discussion that it will potentially become one at some point. Ackman is Chairman of the Board at the co. It is currently a real estate company, but the Forbes article acts as if it will eventually be used beyond that by Ackman to include other long-term investments.

"Howard Hughes Corp. still retains about $250 million in crises-related tax-loss carryforwards today, so it currently pays no taxes. Eventually Ackman may turn parts of Howard Hughes into a REIT, dodging still more taxes."
