Re: Amazon link -- Please clarify "Digital Product"

edited March 2012 in Off-Topic
In this month's letter, in the paragraph referring to new Amazon policy on purchases (which I have bookmarked to enter via MFO ), I am confused by the phrase "the customer places an order for a Product that is not a Digital Product". In particular, what constitutes a "Digital Product"? Is that supposed to mean, say, if you purchase a physical book instead of a download? Read literally it sounds as though "only" digital products -- whatever that is -- qualify. That doesn't seem right -- I'm sure there is some confusion here. Please do clarify, if possible!! Enquiring minds -- etc --

ps: Very interesting commentary, BTW.

  • Digital product I can only guess means digital books, music, movies or game downloads.
  • Good question. I might ask Chip to strike the Amazon text because it is confusing. At base, physical and digital products both generate revenue for the site. The "expiration date" on digital is different from the one of physical.

Thanks for the careful reading. Chip and I will try to fix the confusion sometime today.
