Ping Ted: Q's on PRHSX and Indivdual Bond Purchase

Hi Ted,

Wondering what your reasons were for selling PRHSX? I own this fund as well as VGHCX.

Also, do individual bonds play a very large role in you portfolio? I recall over the years that you have been an investor who often holds individual bonds. What role do they play for you verses a bond fund and where would you suggest a small investor go to buy an individual bonds?

Thanks, it's always a privilege reading your threads.

  • Dear Bee: Sorry for the delay in my response. I sold only about half my position in PRSHX, profit taking, and put the proceeds in EEM. At present my asset allocation is 45% in stocks, 52% in individual bonds and preferred stocks, and 1.5% in cash. In order to buy individual bonds you will need broker that will shop for the best price between the ask/bid price of an individual bond.
    Regards,
    Ted
