Who’s Gained From Large-Cap Growth Funds’ 10-year Outperformance?

FYI: Large-cap growth mutual funds have lagged their large-cap value counterparts so far this year. But large-cap growth funds have outperformed over the past decade.

The reasons for the outperformance are worth bearing in mind whenever you make buy or sell decisions in your portfolio, especially the diversified portion — your mutual funds and ETFs. Knowing the reasons for the decade’s worth of outperformance could help lubricate your funds’ forward motion.

Growth funds lagged this year and early in the decade — especially during the 2008-09 financial crisis downturn. But the ballgame has largely gone to large-cap growth funds since late 2010.
