    Thanks John (BTW - Ted linked the Franklin story yesterday) Nothin to add to these fine discussions. Just a comment as to the diversity this morning. Got everything from buckets and 4-legged stools to single-fund approaches. Lots of stuff on COST - not manager track record - being main ingredient. That would seem to cast doubt on the many hours spent here discussing great (and not so great) fund managers and the many very fine fund houses. Years ago I noticed I was trading funds excessively & moving in and out of cash - at exactly the wrong time. "Buckets" evolved over many years and provided the necessary structure for a more stable approach. Worked for me. But would be loath to claim it's best for everyone. And, I still like actively managed funds. For a newbie perhaps the low cost approach is better. But some of us oldsters will hang with what we've become familiar with & understand. Thanks to all for the interesting threads & links.
