2 Mutual Funds That Invest in Companies With Female Executives

FYI: the corporate world, women have often received lower pay and fewer opportunities for advancement in comparison to their male counterparts. Some women have overcome this inequality by working their way up to leadership positions. However, women still have a long way to go in reducing gender inequality in the corporate world, as currently only 20 of the 500 companies in the S&P 500 have female chief executive officers (CEOs). Many of these women are very well respected and are leading the way for others to follow. Mary Barra of General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) and Meg Whitman of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (NYSE: HPE) are both examples of empowered women who control some of the largest corporations in the world. Not only are women making strides as CEOs, but many more hold high-ranking leadership positions. Marianne Lake of JPMorgan Chase & Company (NYSE: JPM) and Ruth Porat of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) are examples of women who are the chief financial officers (CFOs) of some of the top companies in their industries.

There has been a recent push for companies to become more aware of women's activism, which is the advocacy of women’s social and economic rights, especially gender equality. This cultural change has become the focus of several specific mutual funds. Many of these funds are also considered to be socially responsible by investing in companies that are in line with their clients' values, such as women's rights, diversity, human rights and environmental awareness.
