Bernanke News Conference Today: What to Look For///hank

edited May 2011 in Off-Topic
Whats the fed chief up to with all this press saturation? Trashing the traditional mystique central bankers hold sacred? What woulda happened if Volker had announced in 1980 he would throw millions out of work by ratcheting up the Fed rate to 20%? Or if Greenspan had proclaimed a housing bubble in '95? I'd feel better if bankers stuck to their accounting ledgers. Let the politicians be politicians and the media celebrities be celebrities. Now, in addition to being a astute economist, looks like the next candidate for Fed Chair gonna need to demonstrate some media savvy as well.

Heres some links re Bens checkered history as rock star celebrity.

  • I do not think Bernanke will reveal anything outside of the Fed report. He will probably clarify potential misconceptions about the written announcement and will preempt the hawks that were muddying the message of the committee.

All other questions, will probably get a vague reply that may be loosely relevant to the question.
