Three Things of Investment Interest ... Wednesday August 15, 2018

edited August 2018 in Off-Topic
Here are the three things I found of investment interest for today.

The first is a Reuters news blurb about the lira rebounding for the second day. The second is an article on one trader's magic formula for investing. And, the third thing is some thoughts about why Musk made his comment that he was thinking of taking Tesla private was because of some convertible bonds soon coming due. This is an interesting read that makes sense.

Please know I appreciate those that stopped by to read and especially those that have made comment. If you have something of investment interest you would like to share (or make comment on) others might find this of good interest.

  • Thank you for the info. EM is down today. I will need more time to digest the trader's strategy. As for Musk there are conflicting stories that he is getting Saudi $ for him to go private while another one said NO. So I will wait and how thing shakes out.
  • I haven't ventured into trading, but your second link reminded me of this article on the "4 advantages of undervalued dividend stocks". The video in the article gives a snapshot into the dynamics of these trades (investments). Undervalued securities can remain undervalued for long periods...I guess the dividend helps...pays you income as you wait for the stock to return to fair value.

  • You raise a good point, @bee. I have heard the old saw about undervalued dividend stocks, namely that I'm "getting paid" while the stock languishes. At today's yields, that makes for a long wait before the re-invested dividends and the hoped-for appreciation of the stocks become profitable. Reminds me of lending money to one of my kids.
