    Thanks Ted,

I have owned FBR Fund's GASFX which M* catagorizes as a utility fund. One of its largest position is NGG mentioned in the article. This fund was recently purchased by Hennessy Funds. GASFX is a Energy/Utility play on the Natural Gas sector and its investment footprint is primarily North America.

TOLSX, also mention in the article, is catagorized as a world stock fund...60% North America. TOLSX is more diversified with holdings in Energy, Utilities, Communication, and Industrials compared to GASFX (Utilities & Energy).

Here they are charted together with QQQ (Tech) over the last five years:

  • I have been using DWS RREEF Global Infrastructure S (TOLSX) in our Vanguard accounts for access to this type of fund. It is not available at Fidelity for retail investors.

A new fund is available at Fidelity and the comparisions in the portfolios are similar with a lower E.R. Check out Northern Multi-Mgr Glbl Listed Infra (NMFIX).
