Elite Universities With The Highest Portion Of Legacy Admissions

FYI: The college admissions scandal has put a spotlight on which students get into top universities, and how. Legacy admissions, in which schools give a preference to the children or relatives of alumni, are a legal way to game the admissions system.

Bloomberg looked at the 25 U.S. universities with the largest endowments and put together a ranking of legacy admissions at the 12 schools that disclose data on such admissions.

What the percentages mean varies from school to school, though, with some schools reporting how many children of alumni they admit, while others citing the number of young people with any relatives who attended the university.

Bloomberg notes that legacy admissions aren’t just a factor at these richly endowed universities. At Baylor University in Waco, Texas, 32% of students are legacy admissions, which beats every school on this list.
