The Week Ahead In The Market

edited June 2019 in The Bullpen
FYI: Markets have been focused for weeks on the upcoming meeting at the end of the coming week, between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping of China, to see whether the two leaders can make any headway in trade talks.

“Whether there’s an escalation to the next round of China tariffs is going to set the theme for the rest of the year,” said one global economist, who said the trade wars are hurting manufacturing activity and business investment and confidence.
Stocks hit new highs in the past week after the Fed signaled it could cut interest rates, and the S&P 500 was up, as of Friday, more than 17.6% for the first half.

There is also an appearance by Fed Chair Jerome Powell Tuesday, and inflation data is released Friday
