Bloomberg Gets Into The Equity Benchmark Business

FYI: Bloomberg is officially joining the equity benchmark business, and ESG—or environmental, social, and governance—investing is the company’s first target.

The financial information company has been running indexes in fixed income, commodity, and currency since it acquired Barclays Risk Analytics and Index Solutions, or BRAIS, about three years ago. Its well-known Bloomberg Barclays US Aggregate Bond Index is used by many active fixed-income managers as a benchmark.
