The exogenous shock many financial experts warned about at year-end may very well be the coronavirus outbreak that rattled the bond markets in January. After a promising start to the year for riskier assets, a flight to quality sent investors hiding in the safety of U.S. Treasuries and higher-rated corporate bonds.
