Ya be mov'in to Texas? Texas hands over complete list of registered voters to DOJ, w/SSN, etc.
Snippet: The state included identifiable information about voters, including dates of birth, driver’s license numbers and the last four digits of their Social Security numbers.
No sh**. What’s next, your state tax return so they can spy on your charitable donation to see which party the taxpayer belong to?
Had an interesting conversation with old colleagues over the holidays. Many stated “no way we are retiring in a red states”, regardless the potential low cost of living.

Been saying the same for years. "Potential" is the key word in that sentence. By the time you pay a realtor, pack up your belongings (moving a house is not cheap, anymore!), fix the new place for your liking, you are already in the hole. None of my retirement income (SS, 401K, IRA, pension) is taxed in the state where I live now. Then, add in hurricane coverage, flood insurance, higher auto insurance (mine is dirt cheap right now), higher registration fees, high electric bills, and likely higher home insurance. Exterminators, oppressive heat/humidity, the need for higher security in many areas. Likely, the need for an emergency generator. All of a sudden, those lower property taxes are not so attractive.
At that point is the (possibly) lower cost worth living next to The Proud Boys?
