Commodity, Nat Resource and Intl Bond -- A few YTD numbers -- Slide continues

edited September 2013 in Fund Discussions
Generally, I believe holding a small amount of this stuff is a good idea. They can provide additional protection against a declining Dollar and serious inflation. But, they've had a tough year. If you hold any of this stuff, you're probably underperforming the broader markets. A few I track, YTD. Have owned all in the past, but only the two noted presently.

OPGSX (gold-prec.metals) -40.37%
QRAAX (commodities) -8.54%
OIBAX (international bond) -5.57% (own)
RPIBX (international. bond) -4.84%
PRAFX (natural resources) -2.61% (own)

As others have previously noted, if you own these highly cyclical sectors, periodic rebalancing is a good idea.
