If Rates Are Higher, Why Are Emerging Markets ETFs Soaring ?
EMs have NOT been soaring. They have been the poor weak sister among global markets. There are a few individual countries that have had a good year, and a couple of frontier EM funds are having a good year. But the basic EM markets are DOWN for YTD. They should have a nice bump today in reaction to domestic markets. The article references how well EDC is doing on a very short-term basis. But how about being down 24% YTD! We all know almost anything can look good in very limited time periods.
