Calpers’ Dilemma: Save The World Or Make Money?

FYI: The California Public Employees’ Retirement System was one of the first public-pension systems to tie its investments to social activism. Now it is having second thoughts.

  • CALPERs - Please save the world. The rich Californians will gladly make up any pension shortfall.
  • You're already underfunded. Make money. There is a fiduciary responsibility to the participants. It's immoral to mortgage the future financial well-being of others.
  • Washington politicians have no trouble doing it JoJo.
