Since the Motor Voter Law was passed in 1993, Republicans have falsely claimed that the integrity
of elections was compromised because non-citizens were voting illegally.
They've tried to disenfranchise voters for over three decades in an attempt to gain political advantage.
Donald J. Trump knows that Republicans face significant hurdles in the upcoming mid-term elections.
Trump is promoting Voter I.D. and the House passed the SAVE America Act (what a misnomer!)
which would require individuals to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
Passage of this bill is unlikely since 60 votes are needed in the Senate.
Trump states that he will issue an Executive Order if the bill doesn't pass.
Fortunately, states have great autonomy over their elections and the federal government's authority is limited.

indicates that only American citizens vote and the exceptions are vanishingly rare.
States that have combed through their voter rolls looking for illegally cast votes — like Louisiana
and Utah did recently — have repeatedly confirmed that fact."
"These bills are part of a broader federal agenda to sow distrust in our elections,
undermine election administration, and discourage Americans from making their voices heard.
The SAVE Act, in any form, would block millions of American citizens from voting.
Congress should stand firm once again and reject the SAVE Act."

"When he got to Georgia, Trump’s economic message was that 'I’ve won affordability.' More to the point was his focus on his Big Lie that he won the 2020 election and that Congress
must pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act to secure elections.
In fact, in solving a nonexistent problem, the law dramatically restricts voting.
Republicans in the House have already passed it.
If the Senate passes it, Trump told an audience in Rome, Georgia,
'We’ll never lose a race. For 50 years, we won’t lose a race.'"
Comments: Wishful thinking, Mr. Trump. I can't wait until November
when the excrement hits the whirling blades for your administration.
