H/T to PVFIX Management

I decided to make an investment in Pinnacle Value Fund (PVFIX) but in making a purchase through Fidelity I received a message that the fund was not available to investors in my state. I went to the Pinnacle website but couldn’t find any documentation as to what states the fund was registered in. So I clicked on the Contact Us link which created an email to John Deysher, the fund manager. I asked if there were any plans to register the fund in my state in the near term, and how I could find out what states the fund was available in.

Less than a half-hour later, I received a concise, but informative, email from Mr. Deysher letting me know that there were no current plans to register the fund in my state and also letting me know of close-by states in which the fund was available.

I was not expecting such a quick response to my question and am very impressed by this level of service, to say the least. Of course, it makes me even more inclined to want to invest in the fund! Time to move back home with the parents temporarily, I guess.

  • I have owned this fund for a while. It is a keeper as far as I'm concerned.
  • You may want to check with the securities division of your state to see what the cost is to register. If there is a cost, Deysher may be willing to list it there depending on the initial amount of your investment. In my state, a fund does not have to register for an investor to buy a fund.
