I sold ODMAX a while back and moved the proceeds into THDAX. Most all emerging market funds have suffered, of late, including one of my larger holdings in the growth area of my portfolio NEWFX. I also held and sold PASAX a while back because it was too heavily invested in emerging markets for me. Emerging markets now make up about five percent of Old_Skeet's overall holdings. Currently, my largest holding is cash at 25% of my overall portfolio.
  • I also sold ODMAX a while back, in favor of HIEMX which tends to behave a bit better in down markets and quite respectable in up market.
  • Leverenz is a great EM manager, but don't expect him to be a cautious investor. He runs a concentrated portfolio of only about 100 positions, despite the funds huge asset base. We did use Thornburg until their hot manager left for Artisan. An option for those who want lower volatility is Seafarer SFGIX. We use it in our less aggressive accounts.
