Just don't order bacon for breakfast without telling them to "burn it" as most of the bacon I've had there looked like it was "dipped" into the frying pan for a couple of seconds. I found food there, in general, to be pretty dismal with a few excep…
Just a thanks to you, David, for your great commentary - don't know how you found the time. Looks like you're not getting rich from donations, but hopefully you can pay your expenses for the month... and that the donations will increase in time.

I, for one, always enjoy seeing Catch's weekly updates - even if there are no changes to his investments, and I appreciate the time it takes him to do this.
I like seeing how his all-bond portfolio has performed each week and YTD. Plus, it would b…
Mark, I'm astounded that you took all that time to enter each investment in Morningstar. That was so nice and generous of you - THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wish this Forum was capable of inputting .pdf or excel files as that would have made it so much ea…
Thank you for your comments, Icyone. It's so nice to hear that others are also benefiting from my questions and responses.
I'm sure my great grandfather and grandfather felt the same way as yours - that women shouldn't have to deal with such a man…
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MSF! I am so grateful (and amazed) at the time you spent reviewing my questions and preparing your very detailed and thorough answer.
Receiving opinions like yours indicating that this may be a reasonable portfolio for Mom's age…
I agree, Reddog - I have only mutual funds (or similar) in all my husband's and my investment portfolios. Unfortunately, this portfolio is managed by USB people. The best I can do at the moment is give my input.
It makes it even busier because I …
Thanks so much for your follow-ups, Investor, InformalEconomist and Old Joe. I do think your suggestions to hiring a lawyer or outside advisor is a good one. But is there such a thing as an Investment Lawyer/combo financial advisor? It would seem…
Thanks for your feedback, Investor. Hiring a lawyer would escallate the conflict to such an extent that it would end any minimal relationship I have left with my sister. Besides this action devastating our Mom, my sister and I both are taking res…
Thanks so much for your input, Old Joe and Mark.
Mark, you are correct that I didn't plan on selling the stock portion of the transfer. All of Mom's trusts at USB have dividends posted to cash account (to pay their fees and process quarterly dis…
Thanks so much for your input, Bob. You are also one of my regular "must read" inputters here.
There are no proprietary USB holdings, so the transfer should not have any tax consequences.
BUT all after this, to my absolute distress, my sister (…
Thanks for your comments, Old Joe. If I could wave a magic wand and immediately find an estate lawyer and financial advisor that I liked and trusted completely, I would be delighted. I just think it would be far more likely that I would go through…
Thanks so much for your follow-up, mclaugh. It sounds like it's definitely worth a triple-check re the tax situation in the transfer. I have contacted my CPA and will wait to hear from him. I would think that, if Scottrade can just take over this…
Thanks so much for your follow-up, msf! Sounds like the transfer is a go. I actually knew your disclaimer was perfunctory...my follow-up really just to let everyone else know that I'm aware any comments from MFO members are not to be taken as lega…
Thank you so much, msf, for taking the time to be so responsive to my question! I am so grateful for your very detailed comments and extremely impressed with your knowledge on this topic. It was so nice of you to also take the time to give me the …
Maybe it's just me, but I'm still having trouble finding where I left off after I review a discussion - really liked old format that changed color of postings I read and took me back to where I left off. I also liked the ability to respond to a par…
I agree with Mike. I use M* to look up recommended funds, then go to their charting tab to compare with similar ones I hold and compare returns. Then I determine if new fund had much higher risk (how much it lost in 2008-09) since I tend to be mor…
I've been very happy with PONDX (PIMCO Income D) and OSTIX (Osterweitz Strategic Income) - mainly because they have given decent returns with lower volatility for the category.
Thanks Scott and sp60. I have two accounts with Scottrade and have had all dividends reinvested. I had not noticed any separate fees in the statements, but the "Cons" for ST in the link made this definite statement so I thought I'd better reck.
PayPal donation link worked fine and I put Amazon link on my desktop so I don't need to access MFO first (and so I don't forget).
I do hope all the users here make even a small donation to thank David and his crew for keeping this great Forum going.
David, Let us know if the Amazon links worked. I've added link to my Desktop so I can use that whenever I access Amazon. Also, can you give us your PayPal account id for those of us who also want to donate directly? I sent a donation to Roy sever…
Thanks so much, John, for continuing your links. I love seeing them all on one page - AND embedded videos great! Really looking forward to seeing if Excel/Word charts or even M* portfolio snippets will transfer.
THANKS DAVID & BRAD FOR GREAT …
The most important thing for me is that David (with the technical help of Brad) has accepted the HUGE (and probably mostly unrewarded) task of continuing this Forum. I would hate to have him get overwhelmed with complaints about some of the details…
I'm having trouble accessing the messages when I click on the main discussion links. Sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to display the messages connected to the links. I hope it's not my computer - only 2 years old and I have DSL which, ,so far, has…
I second suggestion to have discussion lines show who responded. I also like to make sure I read all responses from several people on this discussion board.

I am retired so only home computer. I have IE 7, security settings at Medium. Checking web now for fixes, but too many talk about scripts which I have no clue about. MS says problem fixed in IE 8, so I will try upgrading to that and hope it doesn…
Hi Ted, Loving the new site so far - like that the links bring up separate page. But, when I tried to open this link, it showed the correct page for a second or two, then I got message "unable to open." Have had same problems with Kiplinger arti…
