davidrmoran : No need to send billing, it's the amount that caught my attention!
@msf: I concur with your reply to my question. When the Nav dropped from $10 to $9.75 I thought they let to much new money in & found fewer & less stable bonds to purchase.
Thanks …
@msf: Thanks for your write on bonds. One question when you get time to reply.
RPHYX. " I still don't think it scales, so it is good that this is closed."
I'm missing your point. Would you draw me a picture, so to say.

Thanks for the come back Old_Skeet: I would concur on the first 8 races as being easier to handicap. Also new, taxation on wining tickets is figured on number of $2 purchases made on an exotic bets. If I have it right, 1 $2 ticket hits for $800 ta…
@bee; thanks for quick response. After visiting duck duck go I decided this wasn't for me at this point in time. Once grand kids reach 18 I may take another peek.

Strategy: Set up loved ones to pay 0% rate on investment income
The federal income-tax rate on this year’s long-term capital gains and dividends is still 0% for gains and dividends that fall within the 10% or 15% rate brackets (see the table below…
Morning Pud: I did a quick run through & it appears you have approximately 25% of portfolio from 401-k to invest ? I'm in the same boat only with a little more 33% to put to work. I'm awaiting a pull back to start DCA .

@ Old_Skeet:
From reply #4 . I can also do nav exchanges between funds with the same fund family without any charge.
Are these exchanges tax free or in a tax free account.?

@davidrmoran:
You need to study up, too. It all depends, man. It all depends on what we add. And whether we pay. No one with the power wants to do it right.

@msf: You said: You might try to tax the earnings, but pragmatically this is virtually impossible, at least retroactively (on existing Roth money). That's because people don't have complete records of contributions vs. earnings, especially with inte…
@ bee: At one time didn't you throw out the idea to use target date funds to accomplish this in a retirement portfolio ? Ret. income, 2020, 2025, 2030.
@ Old Skeet; You bring up a point of interest. How much to put in each pot so to speak?

Thanks for all the replies.
Let me state this surrender charge applied to friends mother. If I understood her they were very high !!
I held my late wife's 401-k for a number of years to receive some extra guidance & liability issues. At th…
Do surrender charges or fees ever come into play when doing a rollover ? The reason I asked. After a recent conversation, I was told mother would have to pay a surrender fee from husband's 401-k, who passed away.

davidrmoran, you walk into the ER with a broken arm. Senator xy or z walks in with a broken arm 5 or 10 minutes later. Do you or the senator get taken care of first?

@hank; Had identity theft a few years back. About $700 or $800 involved. I filed police report & froze one of the 3 big credit agencies.
Knock on wood, no problems so far.
