Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@Shostakovich - I just plucked these two items quickly off a google search. However I am of the opinion that former CEO Eddie Lampert basically drove it into the ground. I never did understand why Berkowitz was so enamored with him other than he saw…
@bee - that was my understanding as well. The 'maybe' is still the part to be determined or emphasized I suppose. I wonder how much will be left for the shareholders after the law firms take their cut. I'm thinking that after 10 some years of litiga…
@Crash - "AMLP does not issue a K-1 rather it reports on a 1099 for taxes. AMLP also provides qualified dividends, and a portion of distributions are tax-deferred."
You may have had it confused with MPLX which does issue a K-1.
@Derf - you're only off by a little bit. Here's the whole paragraph from @hank original post.
"Charles Schwab chief investment strategist Liz Ann Sonders put some numbers on that sentiment in a report earlier this year. An investor who put $10,000 …
I've owned a stake in CGDV (Capital Group Dividend Value) for 13-mo now. Honestly II bought it for the dividend aspect but there's really not much going on in that regard so far. I have been pleased with the fund's total return and performance to d…
@jptak - Thanks for the offer. I don't need the info to solve any problem. I was merely curious. However, if you do come up with an answer I'd like to hear it.
I also checked on the Number of Mutual Funds and there doesn't appear to be any apprecia…
Wasn't it not that long ago that companies nearly demanded that one perform all correspondence digitally online because they were not going to be providing hard copies by mail any longer?
@hank - CEF's are a different kind of animal that's for sure. Remember though that they can almost always trade at a premium such as in the case of PDI (see here PDI Overview). If you follow the link you should be presented with the 'Overview'. Clic…
@davidrmoran -
"FICO® Scores. FICO creates auto scores and bankcard scores specifically for auto lenders and card issuers. Industry scores aim to predict the likelihood that a consumer will fall behind on the specific type of account, and the scor…
I don't know if this applies to your situation or not but one common "gotcha" on many "No fees or Interest for the First X Years" is that interest and fees will accrue over the X time span if the credit charge account is not paid off before the end …
Sold a tech CEF fund that I bought when it was heavily mis-priced but I am still hanging on to its ETF bigger brothers. Stashing the proceeds into a MM fund until I see more clarity ahead. Yes, I'm in the cautious camp.
While I have none of the skills or knowledge to tell you precisely why this is so I went looking around to satisfy my curiosity. I was thinking that it might have something to do with their derivative positions but I don't know.
Anyway I found THIS…
Just a blip on the Fidelity website:
"In a post on its victim-shaming site, ransomware group LockBit claimed Sunday evening that it had stolen 33 terabytes of data belonging to the Federal Reserve, and the group threatened a Tuesday evening release…
Long term shareholder of O here and it's been a very satisfactory investment. Excellent management team. Nothing glamorous, has it's ups and downs with the share price depending on the economic cycle (read: interest rates) but through it all it keep…
Doing more waiting than watching, waiting for a correction of sorts so I can put my accumulating cash to work in my perpetual watch list. I tend to be 75-85% invested in equities at all times but nothing looks appealing at this juncture. In the mean…
@Puddnhead who said - "As far as ideas on the Board, I always felt it was a strong point especially when people don't agree with you. Like you said, it causes one to pause and reflect which is good at all times."
Absolutely! I'm all for it. It's ha…
Good actor with quite the range. I've enjoyed many of his movies and characters. I've no clue what makes for an excellent actor but I was always convinced of who he was in his roles.
I hate to see these tactics being used in sports. If you can't beat them with your skills then go find something else to do with yourself. Hitting a player with a ball is not a skill.
DJT down 14.56% today after sharp losses Tuesday (-8 %) as well. Brings up the question - how many worthless DJT stock certificates can you stuff into a Tesla pickup and drive both into a permanent landfill?
@Tarwheel - never would I claim that FCNTX is an S&P 500 clone. It's far from it. At the time I sold what it hadn't been doing was beating up on the S%P 500 like it had in prior years. I blamed it on the growth of the massive AUM. I owned it clo…
@MikeW - I haven't looked closely lately. At the time I sold FCNTX I considered the retirement of Tillinghast at FLPSX, who I thought Fidelity might have to pry his cold dead hands off the keyboard, and wondered how much longer Danoff would stick ar…
For me FCNTX had become for all intent and purpose an S&P 500 clone albeit with active management and a higher ER. It currently has 315 holdings. Also I'm not sure how much longer Danoff will remain in charge.
As for BIAWX I invested initially …
VPMAX has been a fine fund since inception but since I was then late to the game I invested in BIAWX to complement FCNTX. Pull up a 10-yr chart. Beat me with a stick if you want but I have since sold FCNTX and put those funds into FXAIX.
Amen sister Anna! I don't like seeing it, I don't like hearing it, and I don't like dealing with it but damn if I won't! As Johnny Dangerously put it "You fargin' bastages!"
" That fee, however, will be waived for customers with at least $5 million in assets." I suppose because those customers are the ones that are least able to absorb the cost, along with all the other fees coming down the pipe.
@Roy - Yes the fund uses leverage. I'm unfamiliar with the term ROP. If you meant to say ROC (Return of Capital) there isn't any at this time (past year) and there has been very little if any during the course of its existence.
PIMCO Dynamic Incom…
Very late to the game here - I hold 2% in international equities mostly hidden in various domestic ETF's (e.g. CGDV) or CEF's. Some also contained in AVGE.
