I'm looking closely at CGDV and CGGO for actively managed ETFs covering dividend growth and global growth. I like the Capital Group and prefer that approach versus index-based stuff.
PRWCX
RWMGX (AF WaMu Investors 0 where 100% of my 403b is parked)
PRBLX/PRILX is a good one I've held, too. Wish there was an ETF version b/c it pays out big each year.
Listing all positions daily poses undue risk of front-running the manager’s intent to build new positions, thus it harms the existing shareholders. That is why the OEF holdings are disclosed at least 3-6 months later.
That's my exact concern here. …
If the lower-priced ETF indeed is the same as PRWCX, is there any reason not to switch into that from the OEF in a taxable account? I.E., perhaps better tax treatment?
If the ETF would pay out quarterly, that would be more attractive to me in terms…
:) I can’t begin to imagine being able to trade in and out of a clone of PRWCX at will. Never felt it was managed for that type of use.
Hank, excellent question, and one I'm sure TRP has considered as well (I hope!). Come to think of it, I wonde…
I transferred the securities in my TD account to Schwab in 2020 w/o any problems whatsoever, and got a decent transfer bonus. Maybe that's because I did it long before they actually began moving accounts? *shrug* (I moved early b/c I didn't want t…
fwiw saying I throw extra cash into very short-term t-bills. I may pay a few points on the spread, but it's still cheaper than most of Schwab's (or most people's) MMF offerings.
Wow, that's HUGE.
Looks like it'lll be cheaper than PRWCX and disclose holdings daily*, compared to the longer timeframe of PRWCX. Definitely worth keeping an eye on if you want access to Giroux!

I was walking into the dentist at 2PM, I didn't think about the markets or Fed until I got home a few minutes ago ... I'll catch up on things and see if there's anything interesting or actionable tonight.

Just a few short weeks ago, Credit Suisse was offering corporate bonds at Schwab with tempting rates over what treasuries were at the time, ~5.26% I believe. I remember actually thinking about it. I think CS was rated A+ with, I thought, a good pedi…
On any investment, you reap what you sow. If you can't handle the risk, don't buy the product!!
BBG said last night that Goldman, JPM, and Citi are buying a bunch of CS bonds for like .02-.03 in the hopes of flipping them for a tiny amount (few pen…

Yup. We recall the all-nighter programs during 2008 for CNBC and Bloomberg.....no info-mercials, eh?
Back then you knew it was bad when CNBC would say on Friday afternoon "tune in for special coverage at X'oclock on Sunday" LOL

interesting political question on BBG right now: was this deal structured in a way to try and protect certain foreign shareholders (ie, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations) who bought stock in CS just a little while ago during its last credit rais…
I'm guessing that the next raise will be .25%, but likely not this week. That would be incredibly poor timing, with a deaf ear to the marketplace reality (warranted or not.)
ECB did .50 the other day, despite the CS issues over there. IMO the fed's …
Feels more like a shotgun marriage done at fire-sale prices, like what JPM paid for Bear Stearns back in '08 ... though not quite at prices comparable to a hot-dog as it would've been at $1B.
”First Republic’s stock is down more than 80 percent for the year, and other regional banks like Pacific Western and Western Alliance have lost more than half their values.”
Remind me never to invest in banks!
I never have and never will!
Per CNBC: "Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told senators that government refunds of uninsured deposits will not be extended to every bank that fails, only those that pose systemic risk to the financial system."
I think that's the right approach to…
Gut observation here, but this week things have not all completely marched in 100% lockstep like they did in '08. There are some pockets of green and/or counter-trending moves happening that kind of makes this more orderly.
Had the government not…

Yeah I'm selling my Schwab MMF today because of this. Does anyone know if I can sell a MMF and also move the cash into treasuries the same day? or do I need to wait a day. I'm worried about protecting my cash. thanks.
IIRC selling most Schwab MMF…
IIRC cash in a brokerage sweep account is protected up to 250K via FDIC or SIPC coverage, right?
That said I wouldn't fault people for moving large chunks of cash from a Schwab sweep or MMF into treasuries or treasury-ETFs at the moment.
