Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
@JD_co. Big fan of PRPFX here. Have it in both taxable and retirement accounts. My question is on what data are you placing ALLW in taxable accounts? Seems like turnover might be part of the plan. Lots of gains that would be taxable?
We shall …
I very much appreciate low volatility and limited potential for drawdowns. So with 5% to 7% per annum being my target, I've been setting up the following bond alt sleeve:
IRA:
PAPIX - Option trading
ARBIX/ARBOX - Hedged Equity
HMEZX - Merger Arb

When looking back over this period, FoxNews will stand out as a major culprit in spreading so many MAGA lies to the nation. Lies that, when repeated daily to an audience with limited capacity, become alternative facts.
It takes a village. We…
AQR had a rough patch from 2018 to 2020.
Since then, their funds (i.e. QLEIX, QDSIX and QMNIX) have performed very well. QDSIX had the far better max drawdown during that period and also lowest SD.....and the lowest return of the 3.
Elections do have consequences. The only thing we could probably agree upon.
The US messed up bad this past election. Gonna pay a high price for that - literally and figuratively.
All should kneel before King Dump.
@Bitzer

- I would also consider APHPX as a solid bond sub
As of 6-30-2025, Artisan Global Unconstrained Fund had a Yield to Worst of 11.83%. Its been very solid in it's short ~3 year life, but not yet firmly battle tested. Bought some this ye…

"... cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshiped like gospel. "
Spot on.
I'll never understand what propels these markets at times like these - is it:
1) Algos/computers
2) Buyers outnumbering sellers
3) Some mad scientist behind a red velvet curtain, pulling levers.
It feels a bit surreal at this point. Nothing seem…
To @Sven's point, when me and the wife buy groceries, we have a tough time digesting the new prices. Up across the board, especially meats and cold cuts. Good thing that I don't need no stinking eggs.
Then we shrug... shake our heads.... and pa…
Yes! On Monday 1/3 of the cash goes to Crypto and 1/3 to Private Equity and 1/3 to private credit. I hate being looked down on by smart rich people like FD1000. I wanna be a smart rich person too.
Oh my, what a club. "Sign us all up!". We all wa…
It feels like the markets are supporting the economy, and not vice-versa.
The wealthy in the US own equities + bonds, and those investments are doing just fine. The wealthy don't have to care about inflation or job losses, so they continue to spe…
The MAGA propaganda is strong with this one.
Hundreds of hours of FOX news will sap your mind. No ability to think freely, so you just parrot the MAGA lines they repeat to you hourly.
You are a tool of the far right. A party tool.
Comey helped to sink Hillary Clinton's election chances back in 2016 when he publicly announced a probe into her email servers 11 days before the election. Trump probably received a few extra votes from that fiasco.
Comey ain't no angel. But thi…
Look no further than BS 1000 as a prime example. Orange has a grip on approx. 35% to 40% who drink the MAGA kool-aid. That group is almost cult like - doesn't matter what Orange does, its all great in their eyes.
The 'catch-up' is lost only by those over 50 who earn > $145K (per employer), at least for now.
But it's a horrible signal that the IRS is looking to restrict retirement savings. The govt is so wasteful in its spending and this is simply not a…
The market can go on with blinders for quite some time. We've seen this movie before.
Meanwhile, I've been adding to lower volatility funds - CBLDX, ARBOX, HMEZX, QDSNX, BALT.
Recent polling suggests that the upper crust....the richest Americans...have been tilting back towards approval of Trump because they:
1) Don't really feel the effects of inflation like the rest of us do on a day to day basis.
2) Are currently enjo…
How many countries will accept most Americans with open arms? The list must be extremely limited. Their walls are there, built with red-tape.
A certain idiot broke all of our Intl agreements, and that will not help things.
Even our economic rep…
@wxman123, I like to spread the risk across multiple funds in any category for protection against a management misfire. Especially when the funds invest in a high risk asset class.
JASVX outperformed in March-2020 when structured credit was blown…
As regards HOTIX (bold added):
The Holbrook Total Return Fund seeks to deploy capital opportunistically across government securities, corporate bonds, and securitized credit to produce income and total return. The Fund will have a longer target dur…
And BS1000 owned bonds the whole time. So why does Captain Obvious have to make it seem like he always knows best when stocks outperformed... while he owns bonds?
When markets stop trading on fundamentals, you get a mini-bubble. That's where we are at.
If Fed rate-cuts are the basis for a continued rally, good luck with that.
