Reported by Bloomberg Media today …
”The latest GameStop Corp. frenzy has coaxed a big critic of the meme-stock craze - and a notable loser back in 2021 - off the sidelines with a new short position. Andrew Left, the founder of Citron Research, pla…
I like mm funds for what little cash I hold. For a bit longer duration I use LSST - but it hasn’t done well lately with the volatile rate picture. Actually, take a look at TBUX for a mm alternative.
I have no idea where rates are headed. I’m f…
Stockers? An insect that suns itself and hums loudly atop a rotten log on the hottest days. When skies darken and a cool breeze picks up they disappear.
”Let's ask the obvious easy question: if you held just the SP500 for your stock portion (based on Bogle+Buffet) have you done well YTD + in the last 3-5-10-15 years?”
The S&P 500 lost approximately 56.8% of its value between October 2007 and Mar…
Thanks Larry.
I wasn’t thinking “flip to value”. That would be ground-shaking. Just perhaps a gentle nudge towards a more normal market. With the S&P up over 11% YTD (and tech doing even better) the following better-than-average funds haven’…
Fortunately, the area handy-man (fixer-upper) I’ve been pushing to take a very large tree down finally intends to do so next week. Requires going up with cleats and “topping” first. More than I can handle. Trying to get anything done in these part…
One thing Mr. Gundlach mentioned in my investment related video post was that a reason insurance rates have spiked is that there’s more “lawlessness” in the country leading to more accidents and other casualty claims. And it’s hard to argue with tha…
Thanks for the correction re NYC tax @msf. I corrected my earlier mention. 8.875% sounds a lot better.
I suppose one might “recoup” that amount of value by taking enough (free) rides on the Staten Island Ferry.
Traveling recently I purchased 2 double burgers and a medium fries at MacDonalds for under $12.00. Included double pickles, which I think cost extra. Also included NYC’s 9.75 8.875% tax. Seemed quite reasonable considering everything.
32% domestic equities / 14% foreign equities (almost all developed Europe)
- Equities 46%
- Fixed Income 44%
- Other (real estate / infrastructure / metals) 10%
That’s from Fido’s analytics and looks correct to me.
FWIW - In recent days I too…
Is Boston for real , (NBA) ?
Dunno Derf. I stopped watching NBA at least a month ago. Only watch BB on my 5x5’ wall mounted movie screen (using a projector TV). Game is so fast moving. But it doesn’t look good on the big screen in the summer whe…
@FD1000 - I found it a thoroughly enjoyable one hour discussion. I didn’t watch expecting to hear any predictions. There weren’t many predictions - of the investment type anyways. But while we’re on the subject I’ll note that making forward looking…
Thanks guys. @Mark - That looks like what I was looking for. Will give it a whirl tomorrow. Really hard getting anything done in this area in the summer. And lots of price gougers. Try to stay away from the big fish when possible.
Thanks. I hadn’t realized the thread first went up in March and that @BaluBalu was noting a new recent ominous development. Appreciate the recent update @BaluBalu. I probably don’t fully understand the issue. Not something I mess around with. More…
@BaluBalu - I just want to reassure everybody I wasn’t responding to Yogi’s post. I share your high opinion of him. Sorry if my post was in any way misleading.
+1 @Old_Joe
Speaking of the “network news” … When did it transition to the evening weather report? I missed the change-over.
Apparently it’s easier and less expensive to gab about wind, rain, sun and hail then to delve into the wars in the …
I watch little of the idiot box. Bloomberg provides “background noise” most of the day. If you’re lucky you might hear a 5-minute interview of somebody who knows wtf they’re talking about. Bloomberg’s (I think excessive) political reporting is pr…
" We live in two totally different worlds."
"Tell me what you watch and I'll tell you how you feel on almost any hot topic"
"The country is divided... It's on purpose because it makes people money."
Indeed. There, my friends, is the story of our …
One of the reasons I went with Roth conversions years ago. @Tarwheel makes a good point. If possible, try to keep all your funds subject to RMD at the same place. Simplifies matters. The calculations shouldn’t be hard. There’s a multitude of free w…
Nothing puzzles me more then when folks harp about the high cost of fuel / vehicles and than climb up into a high riding 4x4 with room for 10+ passengers. In varied driving conditions you’re looking at 15-20 mpg - half of what many 5-6 passenger se…
@Baseball_Fan - Exactly what is that “average person” you are referring to? Could you give a little more detail? Is that white or all-race inclusive? Is that city dwelling or rural? Church going? Or are atheists like myself included? Does th…
Anyone who gets their information from Faux News or other conservative news outlets would think our economy is tanking and the worst ever. Unfortunately, that’s the case for a large segment of the US population.
Once media understood how to appeal t…
Reestablished position in NSRGY / 25 shares @ 101.91 This thing is either deep value or a head-fake. Even received a “buy” wreck rec in Barron’s this week.
"Senior bank examiners texted female employees photos of their penises."
Yikes!
Presumably no problem with the photos being too large for the texted message to handle? ;-)
Well, nobody can say the FDIC isn’t being transparent.
Thanks for the link @rforno. These guys are playing hardball. Similar to how some short-sellers play. As I posted elsewhere, BCAT, run by Rick Rieder gained 4% yesterday. Listened to a Weinstein Bloomberg interview in the recent past. Pretty impr…
