I think @Puddnhead asked about small-mid value funds. For OEF, BRSVX. For ETF, SMOT. The latter is brand new, a more mid than small portfolio of about 100 stocks meeting M*'s moat methodology. AVUV has an interesting approach to small value, resulti…
I really enjoyed “Skyfaring: A Journey with a Pilot,” by Mark Vanhoenacker. The author was a pilot for British Airways flying 747s. Great appreciation of the wonder of flight, the place of the 747 in aviation history, and the profession of aviator. …
@WABC: I just bought some SYLD after selling some MOAT. Foreign stocks were really cheap late Sept when I bought FNDF in hopes of a rebound, which occurred. Took some good profits and hope to repeat. These days, I’m trying to be less greedy and more…
@WABC: RWJ is a good pick. I am impressed that the Invesco methodology appears to work equally well for large cap (RWL) and mid cap (RWK).
I have been a fan of the Pacer Funds Cash Cows method, and I have made a commitment to COWZ. Historically th…
Thanks, @TheShadow. After making a big distribution in 2021, BCSIX will do the same this year. According to M* the fund holds 45% of its $3.6 billion in its top 10 positions. Concentration is great until it isn’t. Hard to blame shareholders for flee…
My twisted brain sees him ending up as an inmate in one of his hotels, for which the Secret Service and other protective personnel are paying top dollar to the T organization for every square inch they occupy.
Brown Capital's link, above, did not result in my finding the 2022 estimated distributions. Curiously, several days ago it did work and I learned that BCSIX will make a 17% of NAV distribution. I have sold and will rely on NEAIX (which distributed n…
Your link, @Mark, is to M* showing no distributions at all in 2022 for SVARX. However, the fund made four distributions in 2021. The Advisors Preferred website appears to offer no help to investors seeking distribution estimates. Did you find someth…
I have not owned BRUFX for a while, either; however, I do not recall such a high cash allocation, low bond stake, and such a big commitment to utilities (32%). The latter might be bond substitutes.
Thanks for that clarification @stayCalm. Can you determine if the 11/15 distribution of 98 cents is the last one for 2022? It seems that the fund is not on a quarterly distribution schedule.
@stayCalm: SVARX does have impressive upside and downside capture ratios. Can you figure out what the bogey is? The fund appears to be charging an ER of 3+%, so that's one high hurdle to overcome. I looked at the Advisors Preferred website and got a…
The stuff that has been working this year are ETFs with a disciplined methodology: CDC, COWZ, SYLD, and to a lesser degree MOAT. New to my portfolio is SMOT, the S-Mid version of MOAT. Free cash flow, dividends, moats and buy-backs seem to character…
Mr Smith has an impressive bio, including doing investigations into political corruption. He looks like a tough cookie. Mr Smith will be going back to Washington from The Hague, but not just yet. The Times also reported that he’s recovering from a b…
I’m in agreement with Old_Joe on FB. I am frequently shown stuff that my wife reads and it’s rarely anything I need or that I missed on the various electronic news outlets I read daily. She’s right in saying it is a useful medium for keeping track o…
@WABC: thanks for the suggestion. We received two Echo Dots, not the latest versions, as gifts. I figured out how to use one on our lower level as an intercom. My wife can summon me by saying, “Alexa, drop in on all units,” while she’s listening to …
That's a great CNN catch, @LewisBraham. The "vessel" discussion is downright weird, but Scott Jennings saying inflation "down there in Georgia" is so bad that lettuce costs $1000 a head is priceless (no pun intended).
Thanks for the info on Amazon @Old_Joe and @Shostakovich. Come to think of it, I must be one of those causing a drag on revenues because, despite Alexa's entreaties to the contrary, I have yet to place an order by voice. Maybe I'm a loner; I don't t…
Thanks @LewisBraham. I had never heard of “vessel theology” prior to reading the linked article. I can’t recall ever reading of such a distortion of facts and twisted logic. It was called balderdash in the old days. King Cyrus, my bippy. The last ex…
I am one of the MI residents on this board. Our family of five all voted absentee without a hitch. I was particularly gratified that the results referenced above by @catch22 were a rout for the true crazies who have taken over the Republican Party h…
I thought even more significant was the later headline tonight saying that every election denier running for a post from which he could distort an election had lost. Maybe enough voters are sick and tired of two years of the BS Trump has to sell, es…
@rono: FWIIW, Changpeng Zhou, the other dude in this crypto war, has a completely shaved head. Frankly, he does not appear any more palatable to me, but my judgement has been poor in other instances.
@dtconroe, aided by a errant spellchecker, contributed a very witty remark:
“When all the dust starts selling, I suspect we will have a far different set of market conditions…”
That indeed will be an intriguing market! That could push me to stop …
For my part, I have never understood crypto. A friend of mine made enough dough on it a few years ago to buy his daughter a house, saying to me, “It’s just a currency.” However, to read the above contributions I had to resort to Google to translate …
The article is tough going for me, @sma3, especially with the key nomenclature appearing in Russian!! Putin may have fingers in more pies than we thought.
@Old_Joe from another octogenarian: we can’t text as fast as kids and we are not accustomed to keeping the iPhone on our person as if it were another appendage. I doubt that my adult kids understand that reading glasses are necessary for all senior …
I'm in agreement with @Ben. For my money (and Ms Geritz has none of mine), I would have preferred to read about specific stocks owned by the two funds and why investors haven't made a nickel since Rondure's inception. I think we get enough macro-eco…
Well, that will be a way to avoid the transaction fee at the fund supermarkets. John Montgomery, the head honcho, has always refused to play the fee game with the big boys. In the days of physical annual reports, Bridgeway mailed plain old 8.5"X11" …
