Thank you sma3! We are spending this summer in northwest again. I have no quiet place I can be before noon eastern (9 am here). Library opens at 9am! I've set up a session for Friday, 2 pm eastern ... posted on board. But, if that does not work, just call me at 805 468 9599 ... if I can pick up I will. Hopefully, can pick a day where you can attended from noon on. Very happy to do! c
Hi Leah.
Just sent you an email resetting account.
Sorry for hassle.
Basically, it's renewal time.
If you have any further issues or suggestions, please post or email us.
Can't thank you enough for your continued support.

This month there are 12 funds that are both 20-year Great Owls (top quintile risk adjusted return for past 3, 5, 10 and 20 years) and Honor Roll funds (top quintile absolute return for past 1, 3, and 5 years).
The 20-year GO designation is a remar…
David designates funds between 1 and 2 years of age as "Rookie Funds." Here are some top performers based on risk adjusted return in category, specifically Martin Ratio ... max absolute return with min drawdown since inception through October:

Dodge & Cox Balanced Fund (DODBX)
Dodge & Cox Global Stock Fund (DODWX)
Dodge & Cox Income Fund (DODIX)
All on Honor Roll, which means they are top quintile in category the past 5, 3, and 1 year periods on an absolute return basis.
Doubled my position in SIGIX, making it a heavy holding ... nominally 10-20%.
Moved cash into COF 2017 bond yielding just over about 1.5% ... now heavy.
Considering CHK 2017 junk bond ... but waiting to upcoming earnings call.
That's it.
Remain …
Beginning this month I believe they will be eliminating max load when computing their 3, 5, and 10-year star ratings, which I find disturbing. We continue to include max load in MFO ratings.
Hmmm. Hi Ralph. Not sure I understand. Can you give me the symbols you are looking at in the Risk Profile Tool? I just punched in DODBX and VWELX and got two lines of results, as expected. c
Hi sma3,
With the apps we've employed on MFO Premium site, it's only possible to "stick" headings when the number of display parameters fit on one screen. So, that's what we do with GO, Three Alarm, Dashboard, etc. But with MultiSearch, which outpu…
Thanks MJG. Been thinking about this very situation. Lots of "value" managers under-performing vs SP500 last 5-7 years. Hard to know exactly why. Some of them blame ZIRP. Others acknowledging that the value premium is something you can only count on…
@LLJB
Here's link to Patrick O’Shaughnessy's Commentary page. He's a true student of the markets. And, here is link to the paper he briefed in Chicago Friday, Alpha or Assets?
Market cap index investing certainly making a lot of smart money manage…
Fixed!
Man, you're good.
Want to be a beta tester on the Premium site?
We could use your kind of review each time we roll out a new feature. For that matter, on existing search algos too!
Please let me know.
In any case, can't thank you enough …
Yay!
I prefer white Rhones honestly, like Rossannes and Marsannes.
But, at the end of the day, any wine will do!
While I don't hoola-hoop, I play catch often ... simple and wonderful ... like the hoola-hoop appears to be.
Thanks for sharing.

I do find it a bit unsettling that after so many companies have replaced their Defined Benefits Retirement Plans with Whatever Market Brings Plans, expected 10 year real returns on equities and fixed income assets are zero.
@expatsp. I'll echo PRESSmUP regarding FNMA decision. And, Sears Holdings/Seritage, BAC, AIG. BB has not talked much about the Valeant stake ... appeared to buy late last year. Cheer you up? Hmmm. FAAFX up 3.9% for year. Not bad. (Let's not mention …
I started following Synchrony Financial SYF recently.
Had to sell OAK back in Feb/March with roll-over of my 401. Left proceeds in cash.
Sold HCP this week with departure of Lauralee E. Martin. I've basically owned the stock her entire tenure. Lef…
@dryflower.
Hi again.
Thought I'd share this from a response I just posted to teapot:
On the premium site, you have 21 selectable evaluation periods (lifetime, 20, 10, 5, 3, and 1 year, plus full, down, and up market cycles) for all risk and perfo…
@teapot.
1) Does every category use the same top % as Owl fund threshold line?
If I understand your question, yes. MFO return ratings are relative to peers, so done for each category. MFO risk ratings are relative to overall US market (SP500). Here …
@teapot.
Ha! You and lots of other investors in commodities and EM these last few years.
GO distinctions are based on a fund's relative risk-adjusted return within category. So, the category can perform badly, like commodities and EM have done las…
@Junkster.
Doesn't sound like end of the world stuff to me.
Sometimes I think that when The Herd is telling us that Expected Returns on XXX are zero for foreseeable future, it's time to invest in XXX.
Hope all is well.

Hmmm.
Just to show my ignorance ... let me speculate a bit.
If you are a global investor of debt, like Dr. Hasenstab, I suspect he's relaying how expensive US Treasuries are relative to rest of world because of the strength of US dollar.

“Forecasting is the art of saying what will happen, and then explaining why it didn’t”. The data show that market forecasters are well practiced at that art.
Love it.
Thank you MJG.
I fear Brexit is another example of "scorched-earth" politics, b…
Thanks Ted. Really good post by our friend Dr. Wesley Gray. Sure hope he's right!
