Thank you sma3! We are spending this summer in northwest again. I have no quiet place I can be before noon eastern (9 am here). Library opens at 9am! I've set up a session for Friday, 2 pm eastern ... posted on board. But, if that does not work, just call me at 805 468 9599 ... if I can pick up I will. Hopefully, can pick a day where you can attended from noon on. Very happy to do! c
Hard to support gold when the dollar is rising, no?
I like oil, but it seems to be in cross-fires last few months.
I''ll want to see some level of support before jumping back in.
Maybe we are close...$80 has been a kind of trigger point for a whi…
@finder.
I share same disappointment about GTAA performance. It's never been easy to love.
I tried to articulate both Mebane's disappointments and successes so far in the piece "The Existential Pleasure of Engineering Beta."

Funny how there is suddenly an oil glut every time alternative energy, fuel efficiency, or new extraction techniques take more than a couple steps forward.
One of few shows that made me really laugh. Very sorry to hear.
And the closing line...
"Well, you've wasted another perfectly good hour listening to Car Talk."
Crack me up.
Gotta love it.
It was indeed a very good day.
AA up 3.3%.
OAK recovered 2%.
SAFM up 4.3%
Even laggard SCHN up 1%.
Nice way to end October...don't let the door hit you in the :).
OAK hammered today on earnings disappointment.
I thought the earnings call was good and can't help but think future remains bright for OAK.
So, took opportunity pick up more.
Almost KKR as well. But not quite yet. I've grown concerned that they w…
I think the spike has been written about...and debated. (eg, Montier). Some say it was an anomaly and should be ignored. I vote to ignore it...along with the entire 51% drawdown =).
I picked up SAFM after recent swoon (I hope) under $80. Thanks again to a friend of MFO for putting me on to it. Close hold right now since it has considerable short attention.
Close watch list: BRK, PCP, MKL, KKR, BA, XOM, OXY, HES, AIG, APA, AMZN…
Ha! You don't need to remind me...I feel it everyday I open my Schwab account.
And get this, Andrew Lane of M* was on the earning call.
He just reduced his fair value estimate from $30 to $23.
Looks like he stopped believing.
Looks like market digested results and SCHN now up 3%. That's another 5% swing on earnings day, which seems quite common these days.
Amazing how short term the market can be.
Perhaps each quarterly reports seems to validate held perception of true…
Sir. I have been thinking same thing. Been watching it off and on since you mentioned it last March. Will let you know if/when I pull trigger. Thanks man, c
@Maurice.
Every single seat at Kresge filled. Line to get in wrapped out the door and around past the student center toward track field. Huge.
Hey, another thing I remember...he articulated that while the machine itself is important, like a Tesla,…

The young EtF accumulated $2.6M in first couple days of trading. Like all ETFs, its holdings are disclosed daily. Here are its initial value picks...40 names, 2.5% each:

Interesting.
This mean I can drop my subscription to M* Premium?
Wonder if this also means M* becomes more or less dependent.
So, will Schwab funds and EtFs now get more analyst coverage? Be considered for more metals?
Will Schwab cut its own an…

Select long/short category then sort on risk, which will give you list of less volatile funds.
Is "everyone trying to time the market"?
Really?
No economic news.
"Just earnings..."
Ha!
Good grief.
We're doomed.
Break, break.
Futures appear up...that would be nice way to start new week. Hopefully, enjoy more moderate volatility.
I used to have a boss that felt you either had integrity or not. There were not degrees of integrity, he would explain.
I'm not so sure.
I've come to seek managers and fund houses that disclose failures as well as successes.
Maintain communicatio…
