I have them for taxable and non-taxable accounts. I have not tried the free trades yet for mutual funds.

@expatsp,
I've held the fund since late 2002 prior to its closure. Recent SEC filing indicated large distributions on the horizon. The fund had about 1B AUM at its peak, now down to $400M or so. Seeing both manager resigning from the fund with a…
@LLJB,
This was the only other global microcap fund when GP offered its microcap fund. While not named, the Metis fund was also fairly new when GPMCX was rolled out.
Metis reorganized many of it sibling funds with an investor class and no load a…

It has happened on a couple occasions. I posted the link hastily as I was on my lunch hour. Similarly, I have had links posted after I posted them. It is no big deal.

@Ted,
Glad you saw this as this was all I found concerning the funds some days ago. It was not clear that the funds reopened.

Incidentally, here are the July 31, 2018 distribution estimates for the Acorn Funds:

@BenWP,
While funds do make distributions either quarterly of semi-annually, you conveyed my point that this year will probably see significant distributions due the stock market gains of the last couple of years as well as what @msf pointed out ab…
@Ted,
Unfortunately, I would be inundated with emails which would in essence be another full-time job besides my current full-time job. Since this is a public board, I'd like to see readers/posters contribute to the Board for the betterment of eve…
@Ted,
Actually, I use Google as my search tool to find MFs making distributions. The reason I posted it was as a notice to shareholders as well as prevent any sudden heart attacks when the price declines (donuts) to those investors.
Yes, they were not intended to be year-end distribution estimates, but as a notice to shareholders of mid-year distributions. My guess is a possible indication of funds (and of other funds) making earlier than normal announcements of distributions t…
I still have it and glad it is in my non-taxable account. This is an indication of what may happen when you change fund managers/sub-advisers:

Here is another news commentary on MECAX (not to hijack the thread but MECAX was mentioned above):

I believe the amount is tied to what is equal to an deductible/non-deductible retirement account. I believe it was $6K initially. Maximum investment amount initially advertised was $100K, but due to overwhelming interest, maximum investment was lo…
@LewisBraham,
You are right about that one as I do own it. However, the AUM is significantly larger than GPMCX; even METAX has low AUM and higher expenses.
@Ted,
High ER's are typical of small funds with small amounts of AUM. Another issue is the fund is closed to new investors, so there is a small asset base in which they can receive funds from. I am continuing to put in a small amount per month fo…
