Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
People sure like to quibble around here. A mutual fund with a name suggesting that it focuses on a particular type of investment must invest at least 80% of its assets in accordance with its name.
To the original question, VWIGX is one of my favor…
Still in the accumulation phase, so continuing to plow $ in. Mostly SC and international lately. More worried about what ifs like the implosion of an Apple, Amazon or Google than political foibles de jour.
What a shame to see these go. A mere 1.96% ER gets you this portfolio of 32 MFs & ETFs (in the Capital Portfolio):

New fund is "US High Yield". PRHYX currently "only" about 71% US bonds. Foreign bonds definitely not EM or Frontier heavy.

When I called to convert my shares the account service folks were unaware. When I told them we received email notification of the new minimum, they quickly verified and executed the conversion.

The 2015 Annual Report gave an explanation for the deal as "a plan that aims to assist in [the funds'] continued growth and success, beyond [CEO Robert Killen's] retirement" - which will apparently be in 2018. Other than that paragraph in the report…

Regarding FPRAX's strategy change and subsequent tax implications, I only see four positions initiated prior to 9/30/13. Seems like most gains have been realized by now.
I've always been happy with PRNHX, but it may not fit the profile you're after. It is on the growth side, and it's a big fund that actually sits on the fence between small- and mid-cap.
