Ackman Herbalife Live Feed Presentation

Kinda brutal and he really is going after hedge fund manager and blogger John Hempton (http://brontecapital.blogspot.com/) I'm not sure if the whole thing is convincing me that it's illegal (it's probably illegal, but in this day and age, is it illegal enough to be shut down tomorrow? Probably not), but it's unbelievably shady, beyond what I already thought of it and the whole "Multi-Level Marketing" category.

  • Thanks Scott.

Honestly, I have same feeling about Edward Jones. My stomach turns every time I see their new commercials.

Kind of prey on people's desire to do the right thing.

    OMG!

    Money laundering.

    Too much.
  • Chairman sold-off $15M into company's buy-back this year.

Man...this briefing is incredible. Reminds me too of Mr. Einhorn's "Fooling Some of the People All of the Time."
  • I turned away as soon as I ran into a previous Bloomberg tv conversation with their CEO. What a greasy liar. The whole effort to re-define words in order to obfuscate and do shady crap was TRANSPARENTLY obvious. Yes, we have Managers. They don't manage. They do something else. Yes, it's a Ponzi Scheme, but we call it Herbalife. ... Shit. Dreadfully bad and immoral. Then again, a great many things are legally permitted, but are immoral. The fact that we are inured to it all is a big reason why this stuff goes on. Nothing is completely, squeaky clean. But we play the game with ourselves, walling-off money from ethics. Welcome to the American Oligarchy.
  • Okay, that was EPIC. I didn't intend to watch more than a few minutes of it, but ended up watching probably 2/3rds of a 3 hour long effort from Ackman. Worth watching if they put it online and, honestly, I'll seek it out for the first hour I missed.

Thanks. HLF up 25% - I think Ackman did not make enough of a presentation that the company would be shut down tomorrow (in this day and age), but if anyone wants to own HLF after a troubling presentation like that....well, be my guest.
