FTC Says AT&T Misled Customers About 'Unlimited' Data Plans

"The Federal Trade Commission has filed complaint in federal court against AT&T over just how unlimited the company's unlimited data plans are. The FTC says that by "throttling," or slowing down, the data of high-volume users, AT&T in fact was not giving users unlimited data. This throttling would sometimes reduce users' data speeds by 90 percent."

  • Hah! That could explain it. One reason I went on the family plan is because only then does AT&T allow phone to be used as a HotSpot. Only I've really found it working too slow when I tried.

Its not really about unlimited at all. They are simply throttling when they feel like it. Cynical old me should have guessed that from beginning. Instead I'm blaming my Android tablet all this time.
