Gold Standard's flaws

edited February 2012 in Off-Topic
There is a call for returning to gold standard by some groups. It is good that someone actually looked at the financial system under gold standard which gold bugs forget to mention.

  • Hullo there Investor, and once again many thanks for your suggestion re "The Power of Gold", by Peter Bernstein. I have read and re-read that book, and found it to be one of the most insightful and fascinating books regarding finance and monetary systems that I have yet encountered.

The fact would appear to be that the world has yet to invent a bulletproof monetary system- gold or anything else.

  • Reply to @Old_Joe: You are welcome and you are quite right. There is no perfect monetary system. I am posting these because it looks like people have forgotten the problems and economic crisis because we were tied to gold standard.
