Down below you'll find my comments regarding American Century's handling of an email request. Here's the follow-on:

My final response to American Century:

All that would have been required is for your security people to have followed that link, and advise what the situation is. Your "send us a letter" response is nothing more than a cursory brushoff, and speaks volumes about how serious American Century really is about protecting their customers.

For your information, I have posted the all of the information regarding your handling of this matter on Mutual Fund Observer.

That seemed to have shaken the tree a little:

"Thank you again for your email. I sincerely apologize that you felt my previous email was not helpful. Based on your follow-up feedback regarding the issues you were having with the survey, we determined that there was a problem with the survey itself. We immediately contacted our vendor, and the problem was fixed. We appreciate your follow-up feedback notifying us of the situation.

Again, I regret that my initial email was not helpful to you. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this matter further, please call our office at 1-800-345-7412. Any member of your dedicated Priority Investor Team will be glad to assist you weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central time.

Sincerely,

Jody L. Craven

  • Do you feel better now !
  • Good........these type of events generally only become "fixed" from the customer side and not from the internal functions of many companies.

The survey was kind of interesting, actually. There's been a number of board discussions in the past few months regarding the future of MMKT funds in light of the SEC proposals, and this survey suggests that American Century is taking a hard look at their options in that area.
  • I bet Jody is a perfectly nice person if you met her at a coffee shop, but she may have been doomed from the start by her last name to work in financial "services."
