ICI Fund Inflows ... Nothing Anyone Would Have Expected

STUNNING: "Equity funds had estimated ***INFLOWS*** of $1.49 billion for the week, compared to estimated outflows of $6.99 billion in the previous week. Domestic equity funds had estimated inflows of $807 million, while estimated inflows to world equity funds were $678 million."

STUNNING II: "Bond funds had estimated ***OUTFLOWS*** of $317 million, compared to estimated inflows of $2.79 billion during the previous week. Taxable bond funds saw estimated outflows of $920 million, while municipal bond funds had estimated inflows of $603 million."

    Friends of folks at the Fed and/or Treasury were told that QE3 was a "Go!".
  • Reply to @Pangolin: Yeah, kind of wondered if a potential QE3 might be part of the background noise lately.
  • Maybe a stampede outa bonds and into stocks? Even high-flying high yield been sloshing around lately. Wonder if Catch has followed suit?
  • looks like month-end rebalancing took place in institutional accounts. that's what we do. bonds were up by 3+ while equities down 6-12% (depending on the market). so you rebalance at month-end and start playing again.
