Trump calls for $2T infrastructure bill as 'Phase 4' of coronavirus response

Thinking big, acting quickly, and taking on low interest rate debt aren't problems for Trump. Perhaps infrastructure will finally happen....
“With interest rates for the United States being at ZERO, this is the time do our decades long awaited Infrastructure Bill,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “It should be VERY BIG & BOLD, Two Trillion Dollars, and be focused solely on jobs and rebuilding the once great infrastructure of our Country! Phase 4.”

  • Howdy folks,

Love the comments, Derf. How many of these people eat their offspring?

As for the infrastructure pkg, it's a great idea. [When your dog does something good, you give him a treat because you want to encourage more good behavior].

The problem will be with the execution. Obama's went to a lot of 'touchy feelie' programs and very little ever went to projects. With Trump the diversion will probably be worse. They need to send 100% to the states to distribute.

This is an example of Demand Side economics. Not a handout but a JOB. Another idea is to raise the minimum wage to $15 and index it. This too will work wonders to increase Aggregate Demand.

Supply side economics doesn't trickle down because of the MPC [Marginal Propensity to Consume]. For every additional dollar a person receives, what percentage goes to spend vs. save. People at the higher end, save more than spend. People at the low end don't have a choice but Must spend it buying stuff. If people buy stuff, people have to make stuff.

    And so it goes

  • Exactly. See uncle Lewis' shtick about "A BIG EFFING THING!" I was surprised to find the roads were so bad here in our 50th State. I should specify: Oahu. Not as bad as I remember New Brunswick being. But not at all as good as the deep South on the Mainland. And when do we get frost, and frost heaves? Never. When do the roads need to be plowed to clear snow? Never. ... In other news, we here are all contributing tax money toward a light-rail service that might actually be completed in the year 2220. BIG cost overruns. AND... wait for it: the line will serve only the Leeward side: Honolulu and environs. (Shit.)
  • Here is some hopeful (wishful?) thinking concerning a potential infrastructure bill....
